Version 2.2.1 has released!
/!\ Spoilers! /!\
Changelog:
- You can now enable the option to show song titles when they play in-game.
- This has to be manually enabled under "Options > Accessibility > Use Mouse for Menus"
- You can now navigate menus with the mouse!
- Rewrote the sound engine so that the game only loads the song that's currently playing, instead of having all of the songs loaded at once.
- Updated the F1 help screen to be more actually useful.
- Removed all of the non-original tracks from the Music Test.
- The game now always shows the correct button prompt in Forest Fuckery's second room when playing with a controller.
- The temperature bar in Chillville Act 2 now smoothly slides when you increase your temperature, as was always intended.
- Added a message to Chillville Act 2 to tell the player to hit the furnaces.
- The game now shows the HUD if you don't detach from the starting Latch Target in the fifth room of Starspace, to better cue the player to continue playing.
- Updated the Starspace secret room from V2.2.0 to be lame and boring :(
- (quickie already exists in this game)
- Renamed "Shake Effects" to "Camera Shake" in the options menu.
- The HUD no longer disappears when you get caught by Katie in Blackhall Bakery.
- Fixed a visual issue when transitioning from the air-attacking animation to the grounded-attacking animation.
- Shortened the Starspace boss fight theme.
- Fixed an issue where you could jump off and then immediately latch onto the starting Latch Target in the fifth room of Starspace.
- Re-added the subtitles to Vintage Mode.
- (these can be re-disabled with the "--withoutthosefuckasssubtitles" command line parameter)
- The game now refuses to save level statistics if you've enabled cheats *at all* within the level, instead of just if you had cheats enabled when showing the "You win!" screen.
I would also like to announce that this is the final update to this game I will be releasing for a while.
Don't get me wrong, working on it has been pretty fun, but I've started to have issues with this game (mostly, how derivative it is and how nothing-burger the gameplay is) that I don't think could be easily addressed without completely remaking the game from the ground up.
Since I don't particularly wanna do that, I will no longer be updating this game anytime in the near future. I feel like adding stuff to this game so long after it originally released is kind of pointless by now, especially when the game design is very flawed and generic. The only reason I will probably have to update this game after this is if, like, a Unity-style security vulnerability pops up and I have to port this game to Godot 4 or something.
Anyway, see ya! This really has been like quite the birthday expedition, and I have had lots of fun along the way.
